What is the difference between "recycled" and
"post-consumer recycled"?
The general term "recycled" refers to pre- and post-consumer waste.
Pre-consumer material is typically made up of scrap material generated during
the manufacturing process or from unsold paper items like magazines or books
that are returned (unsold) to the manufacturer. These items are then reprocessed
back into new paper products.
Post-consumer recycled means that a finished product has been purchased and used
by an end-user and has then gone through the recycling process and been made
into a new product again (example: a newspaper is purchased and then recycled
and made into newsprint or cardboard products again).
What are the benefits of using recycled products?
Conserving natural resources (including trees, water, electricity, oil) ,
protecting wildlife habitat, diverting useful items from landfills (which saves
both space and money), less destruction of the earth's natural beauty...the list
goes on and on!
What/How many resources can I save by using recycled products?
Every time you use a product made out of recycled material, you are saving
precious natural resources, such as trees, water, and electricity. You're also
preventing pollution that would have ended up in the air and water. Visit our
Environmental Savings Calculator to find out how many resources you've saved by
purchasing recycled content copy
paper!
Why are there a few "non-recycled" products on the site?
It is our fervent goal to always provide the best in recycled materials to our
co-op partners. However, there are other products that we feel are extremely
useful in their design and application that promote an earth-friendly goal.
What are the benefits of being a member, and how do I become a member?
The most essential benefit of being a Recycled Products Co-op member is that you
are joining others that: share your interest in the preservation of our natural
resources and a dedication to using quality products that don't deplete those
resources. As a member of the Co-op you benefit from the purchasing power of the

The simple act of purchasing recycled products through the Co-op makes you a member.
